Fernanda Aguilar
The academic turnaround these last 9-weeks was remarkable. Fernanda consistently got back up after stumbling, asked for help, worked on follow-through and reflected a level of tenacity that I had not seen previously from her. It was evident that once she started seeing success in her grades and her conquering of material that she was even more motivated to take more steps to get caught up and work towards being successful. She embodied the AVID spirit and took personal ownership of righting the academic ship that was seriously listing.
11th Grade
Emily Villegas
Emily's demeanor and hard work make her a real "diamond in the rough." Emily cares about her grades and has shown time and time again that consistency and dedication yield results. Emily has a kind heart, too, and she is helpful to and supportive of her peers. Yes, Emily may "fly under the radar," but this acknowledgement will not merely reward her efforts but also inspire them for continued success.
